Seems like a great concept to have a floating house that runs about like a boat. The Lazzarini designers have the right idea. Sleek and fast, but very roomy to feel like a nice house, not a stuffy boat cabin.
It shouldn’t be too big either, because that makes it tougher to pilot around. Most houseboats are too big and cumbersome, and can only be towed from one place to another and then docked; they’re not meant for actual boating.
Today there are a lot of van campers doing the nomad thing on roads across the landscape. And I guess boat nomads are going to happen big-time, pretty darn soon. Just watch.
You’ll be seeing accounts of folks (digital nomads and self-employed) crossing oceans peacefully, international vagabonds, looking for the next friendly port to berth the tiny home for awhile.
Airports are becoming a bit hassled, and this will be the result of that.
When sailors make an ocean crossing (which could take a few days between landfalls) they often go in groups. That brings safety. They also tend to go during the right season only, when the winds are best.
My guess is that micro-houseboats will cross oceans in groups also. They will look after each other like small communities would.
